Linux software for XR5 Data Loggers
LogXR Linux

To install:
1. Log in as user (not root).
2. Download the above file into your user home directory.
3. Unzip the file.
4. Double-click the LogXR rpm file to launch the RPM Installer.
After the installation is complete:
5. Log in as root.
6. Change permissions associated with /dev/ttyS0 and any other serial port that LogXR will use to allow LogXR, running under any user, to execute the file.
When launching LogXR, you must be logged in as user (not root).
Serial Ports:
After installation, LogXR is initially set to use serial port /dev/ttyS0. In order to choose a different serial port, you must first modify the text file "cplist.xsf" located in the Pace/Systems folder. Add a new line (for example: "COM2") to "cplist.xsf" for each serial port that exists on your computer. Then launch LogXR. Any serial port can now be selected by clicking Port | Change.

Alternate download if latest Java Runtime is installed on your computer.
The following install file does not include the Java Runtime: LogXR-Linux-no-JRE.rpm. [Version 1.01.34, File size: 1.2 Mb, without JRE, posted 14 June 2005]. You may download and install this smaller file if you have the latest Java Runtime Environment installed on your computer. The latest Java Runtime Environment for Linux is a free download from the Sun website and is included in the LogXR-Linux.rpm install file at the top of this page.
USB / Serial Port Adapter
Linux computers that do not have a serial port need a USB/Serial Port Adapter to work with the XR5. A USB/Serial Port Adapter for a Linux based computer is available at http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/usa19hs/
